When does violence become terrorism?

At present, there is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants.


So when does violence become terrorism? Are the Taliban terrorists? The IRA? The KKK? The FLQ?

No doubt most people would agree on this, but what about the other groups that are a little bit unclear? Like the KKK, some might agure that their just rascist.

Well, I wouldn't really call a kid beating up another kid on the playground terrorism. Perhaps, when the bullying becomes completely directed at a person or race of people. I think you need a target to be a terrorist. Violence just applies to people who are violent, yet don't really have a purpose for it. On the other hand, there are some people who just like the see things go up in smoke; you know, the people who just like to set fires and watch people try and escape it. I dunno, terrorism depends on a person's motivation, I guess.
